HOW DO I START A REFLECTIONS PROGRAM AT MY SCHOOL?

Participation Instructions for 2024-2025

The student artist DOES NOT need to be a PTA/PTSA Member to participate

  1. Students may submit entries only through a PTA/PTSA in good standing
  2. Units must list their membership, insurance payment dates and Bylaws renewal date
  3. All submitted entries must be original works created for Reflections and must relate to the annual Reflections program theme
  4. Entries must be the creative work of only one student. Assistance from teachers, parents, or friends is not permitted except in special cases (such as those with visual or physical disabilities) or in the technical aspect of recording and copying digital entries to the correct format
  5. Other students can participate as: actors, musicians, photographic subjects and dancers
  6. Students can turn in multiple entries in one or all art categories
  7. Student Entry Forms need to on WHITE not colored paper (for reproduction quality)
  8. Student Forms must be WRITTEN IN INK OR TYPED - not pencil
  9. Each Entry MUST HAVE an Artistic Statement - The Artistic Statement ties the artistry to the theme and is weighted heavily in the judging
  10. High School students cannot use their school email as a contact
  11. Visit the Virtual Showcase for examples of past Reflections entries in all categories and age divisions.

Participation is meant to celebrate creativity and the exploration of different art categories - kindly downplay the competition aspect

Spotlight On the Accessible Arts Division:

In 2022-2023 Fernando Nunez received a National Award of Excellence for his High School Film in the Special Artist Category

Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.

Promote Reflections!

  1. Previous Unit Chairs may have a procedure binder. Every school has their own Reflections traditions - but we all should be open to new ideas!
  2. Your PTA/PTSA President and the School Principal can guide how your PTA/PTSA is allowed to promote their programs; school - wide signs, school website, school announcements, bulletins, social media and flag ceremonies. Don't forget "Back to School Night," set up a display, include some Student Packets and entry samples.
  3. Download logos from the "Resources" page.
  4. Units can purchase signage from ShopPTA.com - click on "Shop PTA" link below
  5. Order your pre-printed "Call for Entries" signage (later certificates and awards) and pick up from their store in Orange
